Daniel Bilyk

As product manager, I enjoy diving into the details of both the user's problem and the engineering required to solve it, ensuring we build products that are both loved and reliable. I excel at creating clarity and driving alignment across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Developed internal tools and automations, including Slack agents, to streamline editorial workflows and help with operational challenges.

Education

Technical University of Munich

B.Sc. Political Science | 2017 – 2022

  • I deliberately chose to study political science at a leading technical university to specialize in the intersection of technology, policy, and society. My thesis assessed the impact of the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA) on Apple's core platform services.

National University «Kyiv Aviation Institute»

Aircraft Maintenance | 2014 – 2016

  • Through my engineering coursework, I developed a foundational understanding of complex systems. I also volunteered at the National Aviation Museum, where I learned to translate intricate technical concepts for a general audience.

Pet Projects

  • Pet projects are my low-stakes playground for trying new tech and practicing skills. You can check out most of the ones I did at the projects page.
  • I honestly believe just about any problem can be fixed with an agent a bot, so I tend to make quite a few of them with a friend of mine. Usually, they help organize elaborate birthday surprises, from meme-posting agents to 8-hour city quests with real-life GTA: Vice City helicopter missions.
  • Most recent bot I like a lot: Transponster, a Slack bot that quickly became a crucial part of the editorial team's day-to-day. Drop in audio/video, get back polished transcripts as text files, Google Docs, or SRT files for YouTube.
  • Before YouTube ate the podcast market, I made podcasts — some as audio diaries for distant friends, others like Covering Ukraine, a show about European journalists covering the war in my home country, which I wrote, edited, and sound-designed.

Hobbies

  • I have a big love for cars and single-seater motorsport, tech history, and indie-rock music from the Meet Me in the Bathroom era. I love going to live concerts, and I'd like to participate in a 6-hour endurance go-kart race one day.
  • I started running recently, so I'm training for 12k. I'm trying to get better at taking photographs and saying 'yes' to random travels. Preferably by car. Cars are awesome.
